Career Progression in Canada: A System for Experienced Professionals Whose Careers Have Stalled
Career Progression in Canada: starting from where you actually are
FindJobsCanada is live. It is a career progression system for internationally experienced professionals whose careers have stalled in Canada. It is built on the idea that effort was never the missing piece. What is missing is a straight answer about what is in the way.
Free · about 3 minutes · your result and a written Action Brief are emailed to you.
What launched today, and what it is not
A short, unglamorous statement of what exists, so that nothing later in this post has to be taken on faith.
FindJobsCanada launched on 4 August 2026. The articles have been here for a while. What is new is the spine underneath them: a structured career progression system for internationally experienced professionals in Canada.
The case for why it needs to exist is written out in full on Why We Exist. This post is deliberately the other half of that: what actually exists today, what it costs, where each piece lives, and the one thing worth doing before you close the tab.
Three things said up front
There are no testimonials on this site. None have been earned yet. The paid Assessment has only just gone live and the first reports are still being written by hand. When there is real outcome data, it gets published, including the parts that do not flatter us. Borrowing someone else’s results to fill that gap would tell you everything you need to know about the rest of the site.
Nothing here is immigration, legal or settlement advice. We may talk about which roles are realistic given the authorisation you already hold. We will never say anything about your status. If that is your question, and for a lot of people it genuinely is, you need a licensed RCIC or a lawyer, and you should go to one rather than to us.
Nothing here guarantees an outcome. Not an interview, not an offer, not a salary. A better diagnosis improves your odds and removes wasted months. It does not remove the market.
Why I built it
I spent fifteen years in construction across fourteen countries, five of them running a project management office, then five more running a company I built myself. In June 2023 that company stopped operating. The finances stopped working. I landed in Canada that November.
I applied from August 2023 to February 2024. Almost nothing came back. By January I was driving Uber to cover the months, because rent doesn’t wait for a career plan.
Then I stopped applying and looked at my own search properly. I had no clear target level. I was describing my experience in another market’s vocabulary. I had no read on what a Canadian employer worries about when reading a foreign CV. And I was treating a network as something you either have or you don’t.
I fixed those, started again, and had an offer inside a month.
Six months of applying returned nothing. One month after a diagnosis returned an offer. That’s one person’s experience and I can’t promise yours will look like it. It is the reason this exists. The longer version is on the About page.
Nobody has told you what is actually wrong. That is the gap this was built to close, and it is a narrower promise than most of what gets sold to people in your position.
The part nobody names for you
Four sentences. See how many of them land.
And underneath all four, the same cycle, running quietly for months:
Every tip in that cycle might be good advice. None of it is your advice, because nobody diagnosed anything before handing it over.
That is the actual problem, and it has a plain name: action without diagnosis. It is a missing first step, and it has nothing to do with work ethic or character. The longer version of that argument is on Why We Exist.
The five career patterns
Career problems often look different on the surface but follow recognisable working patterns. Five of them cover most of what shows up. One is usually your starting point.
These are working patterns rather than permanent identities. They are a place to start, and you are not stuck in one. They can overlap, and most people have a primary one worth addressing first with a second sitting underneath it. See all five side by side
How the system works, in three phases
Nine steps sit underneath this, written out in full on Why We Exist. What matters here is the shape, and exactly where the free line sits.
This phase is free and finishes in about three minutes. It is the whole point of the launch: nobody should have to pay to find out what their first problem is.
- Answer 14 questions about your situation.
- Get your likely career pattern and your likely first constraint.
- Get one action, written up and emailed to you as an Action Brief.
Present the experience so it is read correctly, decide which role and which level you are actually aiming at, and turn that into a plan with dates on it. The free result gives you a direction. Confirming or revising that direction against your own evidence is the job of the paid Assessment, and it is the only paid thing on this site.
- Position. Make international experience legible to a Canadian reader.
- Decide. The role, the level, the pathway.
- Plan. A 30/60/90-day roadmap instead of a to-do list.
Focused action, then evidence about whether it worked, then adjustment based on that evidence rather than on the next piece of advice you read. The last step feeds the plan again, which is why this is a system rather than a download.
- Act on the prioritised thing, not on all of them.
- Track responses, interviews and referrals.
- Review and adapt. The strategy changes when the evidence does.
Progress is the intended direction here. Nobody is promising it as a result. The market still has a vote, and anyone telling you otherwise is guessing.
What is free today
All of it is live right now. Only the diagnostic asks for an email, and only because that is how the Action Brief reaches you.

The one step worth taking today
If you skip the rest of this post, take this part. Three things come back, and all three are yours to keep.
- Your likely career patternWhich of the five working situations your search is actually sitting in right now. It is a starting point rather than a verdict.
- Your likely first constraintThe one thing worth investigating before you rewrite, retrain or reapply to anything else.
- One actionSomething specific you can do this week, written up and emailed to you as an Action Brief so it still exists tomorrow.
Fourteen questions. About three minutes. It is free, and there is no offer waiting at the end of it.That is the entire ask.
The honest limits
The things we will not do, stated in the same place as the things we will, because you have almost certainly been sold something already.
- No guaranteed outcomes. Not interviews, not offers, not salaries. A better diagnosis improves your odds and saves you months; it does not control who hires.
- No immigration, visa, legal or settlement advice. Questions about your status belong with a licensed RCIC or a lawyer. We will say so and stop, rather than guess in a way that costs you.
- We do not find you a job. No employer relationships, no submissions on your behalf, no placement.
- No testimonials, because none have been earned. No success stories, no invented people, no statistics we cannot source. When real results exist they will be published as they are.
- The free result is a direction, not a diagnosis. It points at the first area worth investigating. It is not a score, a confirmed verdict, or a judgement of your capability.
- No manufactured urgency. No countdown on this site, ever. The one real limit is ten seats, and the reason for it is explained below.
Pricing, privacy, what happens to your answers and who this is not for are all answered on the FAQ.
If you want the deeper read
Mentioned once, near the bottom, on purpose. The free diagnostic is the point of this post; this is for people who finish it and want the full picture of their own situation.
A written analysis of one specific situation, which is yours. What your evidence actually shows, the target role and career level worth aiming at, which gaps are real and which are assumed, and a 30/60/90-day roadmap built from your answers rather than from a template.
There are ten seats in the founding beta. Every report is written by hand by one person, and ten is what one person can do properly while everything else here is still being built. When the ten are used, the honest thing to say is that they are used. We will say that instead of starting a clock.
If the free version answers your question, that is a good outcome and the correct place to stop.
